In Speculation as a Mode of Production: Forms of Value Subjectivity in Art and Capital, Marina Vishmidt moves through the terrains of philosophy, finance, and art, to theorise  capital’s drive to self-expansion the role of speculation in shaping subjectivity. She discusses recent tendencies in the artistic representation of labour, and reconstructs the philosophical concept of the speculative from its origins. 

We will read together during the session. It is encouraged but not necessary to come prepared.
