PUBLIC EMBARASSEMENT

29th April 2026

Seminar
/// 7PM- 10PM

what is it, when does it begin, and who decides it’s a problem?

this night opens up a conversation around the fear of being seen “failing” in public.

why is public embarrassment so often framed as something to avoid?

does that fear quietly enforces conformity, politeness, and social control?

Is the fear of public embarrassment a necessary social boundary, or is it a bourgeois attachment to control, image, reputation?

and if we never risk being publicly embarrassed, are we actually taking any meaningful risks at all? As CHER puts it : “Unless you’re willing to look a little foolish, forget the possibility of becoming great.”

when it comes to love or politics, do we need to lose the fear of public embarrassment to get what we want?

this evening is not about resolving any of these questions, but about opening them—embarrassingly.
